How can I mount an antenna above a drop ceiling?
At work we are deploying a network solution for a hospital that requires an antenna to be pointed straight down near a doorway, above drop ceiling. The antenna we are using is a large spherical antenna, which can be seen here: http://aeroscout.com/content.asp?page=exciter
It is the EX2000. If anyone can come up with an idea to mount this suspended above a tile, (with hardware available at a Lowes, per say) it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
yes, it is above to drop ceiling so as to be hidden.
and yes, we can probably mount on the guide wires. the problem is, the bracket it come with only allows for a 45 degree angle, rather than the req’d 90. (we can’t use batwings as we normally do
You don’t say how much space is between each ceiling. You could use the chains we use on securing fluorescent light to suspended ceilings. Try making a small platform for the antenna to be mounted on and suspend it from the ceiling. It looks like you have a little space for it to work. You can check with an electrical store as the do have bars that are about 24″ long that are made to hold 4″ pancake boxes onto suspended ceilings (the metal supports) . Good Luck.
